An adaptation of a novel…

The novel by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men), The Road, will soon be adapted to film. Here’s the pitch from the book : The revelation took place. The world is devastated, covered in ash. Nothing is known of the causes of this cataclysm. A father and his young son wander onto a road, pushing a shopping cart filled with various objects and old blankets. They are on their guard because the danger can arise at any time. They need to face the rain, the snow, the cold. Remains of the men that the dead bodies or silhouettes supplicant close to their last breath. The father and the son are afraid, but walk towards the sea.

Level adjustment, up to John Hillcoat (Ghosts Of The Civil Dead, The Proposition) for the realization and Joe Penhall (theDelirium Of Love, The Last King Of Scotland) for the scenario. Side casting, Viggo Mortensen (Reclaiming The Blade, Appaloosa) will play the lead role, the father of the family. Charlize Theron (Away From The Scorched Earth, Hancock) will play the mother of the child. Guy Pearce (The Proposition, the Hurt Locker) and Robert Duvall (Get Low, Everything… Except Family) complete the picture.
