We can say that one awaited him with impatience. It was expected at the turn, it was expected in short. After almost twenty years and the episode of The Last Crusade, Harrison Ford , and Steven Spielberg agreed to reiterate the unfeasible for some irreducible : make a fourth episode of the saga.

So obviously, one could only expect that all this would give. Would we find the adventure, the course scenic, and humor that have made the recipe of the first 3 episodes ? Would I find all the characters, the scenario and the few special effects that marked a generation of movie-goers and spectators ?

One name comes to mind, right then and there : Sean Connery. No, we do not find the ex-James Bond, Professor Henry Jones Sr., the father of Indiana in this new opus. And this is not actually in the movie. This is not a mere absence, it is at the limit of frustration not to see this name on the generic. The game of the actor as well as his charisma had made a lynchpin of the saga. Damage.

Then we can focus on the game’s 2 main recruits that are Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf. The first, mysterious, and beautiful playing of these 2 criteria to make an Irina Spalko beauty. The second, a young, half-way between a Fonzie that would have been lost of Happy Days and a Johnny escaped from the series Honey And The Bees. With the humor that goes hand-in-hand. Remains a recurring character of the series : Karren Allen, mrs. Marion Ravenwood herself. She took a few wrinkles, just like Harrison Ford, but the sauce still works pretty well.

There is a phase of the criticism to which I feel the need to talk about : the scenario. One may ask what that has smoked like substance Spielberg to offer us such a script. Caution Spoiler : I think the most hilarious of the film is – and you already know what I’m talking about – towards the end, where we see these pretty little face alien, and this splendid flying saucer to stand up and from far away. I think it is on this stage that I have permanently buried this opus. Where I thought I would have to do to special effects rather little present, I realize that they are well-established throughout the film. The ants scene, for example, is also an irrefutable evidence.

We can say that the scenario itself is based on these little beasts and the sauce does not. It’s like a mix between X-Files for the game fantastic and an episode of’Allan Quatermain adventure.

Even the humour has been reviewed and reduced, and there was the law that, with rare moments of smiles lost between existential questions about why a fourth book : the money ? the want – before they even know if it will work or not – to give pleasure to spectators and fans ? In any case, the deal has been powerful and even oppressive to the release of the film. It reminds me of 1999 and a certain film by the name of Star Wars : Episode I – The Phantom Menace , and I had also left it of marble, like its suites.

No, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull is not a good movie, and is not a worthy continuation of the saga that he has made known to you. A rumor persistently on the fact that a fifth volume is in the road, because apparently the recipes have been good. We just hope that Spielberg will review the shooting and that he will propose us a worthy sequel of the adventures of the most famous archaeologist that the world of cinema has ever known.
