[critical] THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL

The filmmakers are generational. My parents have had the chance to be Scorsese or Coppola. Big names, big movies, instantly cults. Nowadays one could complain, and despair. Be sad because of a certain lost grandeur ? Of a certain class lost ? There was always something. Rare are now the films worn by high-ranking characters who still have the ability to make us dream and we offer a unique atmosphere, fully in relationship with their authors. It could be widely deplored all this myriad mainstream film that we are always serving the same sauce. But, I don’t know you, what fun am I to live my time with big names. All the more because they are rare, but oh so talented !

Thank you Christopher Nolan for your leg story ! Thank you Paul Thomas Anderson for your excess, and your extent life-saving ! And Thank you Wes Anderson for your aesthetic and your talent as a storyteller ! Because yes, today, let us celebrate as it should the enchanting strength of the director. It is a duty we must fulfill in order to congratulate the art, the talent and the originality in these times of standardization of the achievement. Yes, we have a mission.

With what to begin ? I don’t really know. There is so much to say. Finally, if, in fact, I know. Let’s start with this breath of fresh air to me given the film. I’m talking about its story, its history. I had forgotten that the mission of the movie was to entertain us. To get us away. Amazing us by what he says. Fuck that I have mice during the screening ! Enchanted, captivated and swept away by just a lovely adventure that is just by speaking to us in addition to inheritance, the passing of time and transmission.

Wes Anderson is a genius of storytelling. And this, without dispute no. He had already shown in many occasions (FANTASTIC MR. FOX, MOONRISE KINGDOM), and today he signs his status as an indelible ink. To propose a film based on a scenario typically literary these days is a feat. But to be outside the norm, it is necessary to assume it. And of course, the developer assumes it completely. His talents as a writer are undeniable, but they would be nothing without his talents as a stage director of his own writings. He alone is able to inspire a spirit twisted and shifted, a stream of verbal single or, on the contrary, long breaks, replicas fatal and a temporality exceptional.

The history ride in effect on several different eras. All of this is, of course, very very fluid and perfectly put in scene. Because, in addition to being a raconteur of history unparalleled, Wes Anderson is also a fine filmmaker. It has a graphic touch and an aesthetic sensibility very personal absolutely attractive and recognizable. They can also prove to be a ground of repulsion, however. But how not to fall in love with his plans for the perfect pretend to be from a COMIC book ? The frames are all the more gorgeous one than the other, and each scene seems to be more original and inventive than the previous one. Perfection hardware absolute served by scenery intoxicating and costumes stunning.

The director makes us travel to the discretion of a wonderful ambience perfectly neat which is seen raised and highlighted by a colorful approach to magnificent. In addition we used a piece perfectly neat, it combines a perfect picture. The slap in the chart is strong, but painfully pleasurable. What a pleasure to attach to his seat in such conditions. Even without being a masochist, wanting more. And this is where all the strength of Wes Anderson. In addition we propose a story out of the joint, offers it to us wrapped in a pretty package with a sweet, and attractive who do dépareille not with its content. It pushes even the defect in using the formats and characteristics of the era in which the action is located : Cinemascope, And 4: 3… The aesthetic is at the height of the film : new, unique, refreshing, colorful, original, unforgettable.

The care. This is how you could summarize. Care is the master word of the work. The director succeeds in effect the perfect symbiosis between form and substance. But this care is not limited to the two areas mentioned above. Wes Anderson is refining everything down to the smallest detail. To start with a soundtrack signed by Alexandre Desplat, which is simply exciting and which takes us even more deeply in this fabulous trip. The quality of the sound is involved in effect an impregnation even stronger in the viewer. The audio is sublime and perfectly suited to it. Never too much, the music serves each scene by its presence of honourable way : in keeping with the theme, always adjusted.

”Wes Anderson sign a little gem exceptionally enchanting, inventiveness, and extraordinary, a charming, stunning.”

The music sounds also in the dialogues. The prose feeding the film participates in its own way has a tone of general atmosphere. Sometimes spirited, sometimes poet, sometimes slow, sometimes vulgar, the verve of the characters is a treat and we rocked on this trip delightful. There then arises a comic force without equal. The alternating of the rhythms and registers of language is prone to many moments of humorous. The refinement made to trade is a real force that registers even more strongly in the film in the comedy. And this comic also finds its strength, combined with the outstanding achievement of the film. Numbers of visual gags will delight you. Gags that allow once again to highlight the extraordinary ingenuity of Wes Anderson. A delight linking the meticulousness of the realization of a comic capable of diving as well in the burlesque and the absurd is a rare thing. Rare and extremely well done here. So there is no hesitation to have before being surprised and eaten by the film.

Glory to the beauty, glory story, glory story, the film is thus the bearer of a dandy spirit forlorn in the face of a world that is increasingly cruel and devoid of art. A philosophy joke which touches on humanity, and which will be supported by a few historical allusions. Don’t get me wrong in thinking that this is a pamphlet. No. A celebration of a state of mind and a way of doing what I pointed out in the introduction. The art is not dead ! Resistance ! The personalities of strong character (in the image of Monsieur Gustave) are unique, deeply moving and change the world around them. Wes Anderson, on the strength of this status, we sign a real little gem exceptionally enchanting, inventiveness, and extraordinary, a charming, stunning.

Also, for proof, the casting was not deceived. I listerais its impressive composition but it would take me probably an entire page. But I’m not paid to page. I’m not even paid. Oh well, it is true it. Shit…
