Synopsis
Tired of the vanity of paris, Martin, creator of fragrances, has been exiled on an island in Latin America. One day, as he is in Caracas, the night is disturbed by the arrival of Nelly, volcanic young woman fleeing her fiancee. She offers to Martin to sell him a Toulouse-Lautrec, borrowed from his boss, in lieu of wages if he helps her to return to France. The latter accepts it. Relieved, he returned to his island where he has the surprise to find Nelly.
Anecdotes
• * * The table that Nelly steals to her ex-husband and that can be seen throughout the film is La Goulue arriving at the Moulin Rouge of Toulouse-Lautrec. The copy used for the movie (supposed to be the original, with a certificate of authenticity on the back of the frame), however, is reversed.
• Filming took place on the scene of the action : in Caracas (Venezuela), the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, New York and Saint-Laurent-Bois (Nièvre). The scenes in the garden are those of a garden worker in Paris.

Synopsis

Anecdotes
The critic saw in this film an allegory of the anxieties generated by the cold war, with the idea that any next door neighbor may be a potential enemy, devoid of soul and which is used on the sly the interests of its community rather than those of yours. It is this same concern policy which will result in the trial anti-communists orchestrated by senator Mac Carthy at this time. The same cold war inspired in the same spirit as another famous film The Thing from another world.
