Why did Cortana betray humanity?
Cortana thought that the Mantle of Responsibility was meant for AI and that this was the way the galaxy was meant to be. To summarize: she was dieing, she (by ungodly chance) ended up on a forerunner planet, found plans to control the galaxy, put those plans into action and now she is effectively “ruling” the galaxy.
