“Enemy” is a strong word, and “emotions associated with the enemy would include anger, hatred, frustration, envy, jealousy, fear, distrust, and possibly grudging respect”. As a political concept, an enemy is likely to be met with hate, violence, battle and war. The opposite of an enemy is a friend or ally.

Because, no matter how much it is decried, people are greedy: they all want more than they have, the more more the better. However, even a society that bans individual greed can suffer. It is greed that makes people want to do things, since they will be rewarded for their efforts.

Because greed & selfishness are directly counterproductive to the ends that they seek to create. We all seek satisfaction, happiness, well-being. Greed & selfishness create further cravings and mental agitations within us. The more we act on these, the more dissatisfied we become.
