How do you use Alexseal?
Apply 2 – 3 coats to a wet film thickness (WFT) of 2 – 3 mils (50 – 75 microns) per coat. Each coat should dry to a tape dry stage, 12 – 24 hrs. Sand with 320 – 400 between coats. Sanding in between coats smoothes the surface and removes imperfections prior to the application of a final gloss coat.
Can you buff Alexseal?
Machine buff the blended area to restore the gloss. Any buffing must be done by an experienced applicator by hand or slow speed buffing machine using compound/polish and a pad recommended by the product’s manufacturer.
How much Alexseal do I need?
Apply 2-3 coats of ALEXSEAL ® Premium Topcoat 501 Clear in order to seal the Metallic Base Coat. To achieve a higher level of gloss and a more durable finish, a second application of 2 – 3 coats of ALEXSEAL ® Premium Topcoat 501 Clear Gloss may be needed.

Can you sand and buff Alexseal?
BUFFING ALEXSEAL rag. Remember this is very fine paper the dust will clog quickly if you don’t keep it clean. Do not rub with anything courser than 1200! After sanding, paint should look shiny already, you don’t want to be trying to rub or buff out coarse scratch marks.
How do you get light scratches out of gelcoat?
Wet-Sanding Scratched Gelcoat Often very minor scratches and scrapes can be wet-sanded away. Try using 400-grit wet-sanding sandpaper, followed by 600-grit. Always use a sanding block so you don’t over-sand one particular spot, and use a gentle, circular motion. If the scuff or scratch disappears, great.
