A few days before his departure for the Cannes film market, we have been able to meet in Guy-Roger Duvert to us about his movie the VIRTUAL REVOLUTION, his first feature film rooted in the anticipation and the exploration of the potentialities of virtual reality. The occasion seemed propitious to speak of the genesis of the project, the impact of this technology on our society and to address the relations between cinema and video games.

The emphasis placed by Guy-Roger Duvert on a grammar of film classic is therefore the opposite of the steps for gamifier the movie (Gamer, Doom and his plan subjective view, but especially the very recent Hardcore Henry). It must, of course, wait for the output of the VIRTUAL REVOLUTION to realize the extent to which this bias is relevant to other films inspired by video games. In the meantime, the trailer reeks of a completion fluid, action oriented, and the installation of an atmosphere to carry away the spectator, rather than offering a style close of a game (sequence, subjective view, visible interface, etc). Between its references to videogames and film, we feel the desire to immerse the viewer in a succession of Worlds interconnected by a web of intrigue, rather than offering him a sensory experience.

Totally self-financed with the participation of private investors, a VIRTUAL REVOLUTION is this example too rare in the landscape, film French, film SF ambitious. Yet when we think of independent film, the reflex is rather about the crowdfunding behind a distribution via VOD (on this subject see the article of Stone). That think Guy-Roger Duvert of this alternative model ?
Cine indie = crowdfounding ?
With a quasi-multiverse infinite, on paper, a VIRTUAL REVOLUTION has the potential to become a franchise, available as video games, books, cartoons, etc, Is still his ultimate goal ?
