It will be enough of a scene to DIVERGENT 3 : BEYOND THE WALL. A scene indicative of the weaknesses of the artistic direction of the saga since its inception at the cinema (it does not allow to judge the books of Veronica Roth, in which these films are the adaptation, we did not read). More specifically, the episodes under the leadership of director Robert Schwentke (Divergent 2 and this latest installment). Because failing to make a good film, its predecessor Neil Burger (Limitless) had initiated a Divergent manner rather correct.
The scene in question, comes logically from the beginning of this third film. While the plan of Jeanine (Kate Winslet) has been overthrown by Evelyn (Naomi Watts), a leader of Scholars, it is time to judge those who were in favour. A judgment which quickly takes to the air runtime, and returns this new regime, the functioning of which depends once again on the confinement and control of the inhabitants, to the one preceding it (the main issue of the film). We could satisfied to this sequence a realization of the classic, which doesn’t make too much noise, but goes to the essential. Missed it, here Robert Schwentke tries things. Too many things. 360° Rotation around a future condemned, movement of the camera to the crane in order to move from a floor (where there is a crowd excited) to the ground (where the proceedings) and other large plans, forced on the faces of the main protagonists. History to remind us that they are important, to the case where we would have slept during the previous episodes (a choice can be not so silly as it finally…). What remains is the impression offered to have a new toy to a child. Except that in this instance it is a camera, and have fun with going in all the directions without thinking about it quickly becomes unpleasant.
Past that, this is Tris, Four, Caleb, Christina, and Peter decided to flee (again !) Chicago to discover the world that lies behind the wall that surrounds the city. DIVERGENT 3 ends up on the term to be more sober in its execution. It remains, however, sadly marked by the artistic direction of the ensemble. In the center of the film (and the frame) of the couple formed by Tris and Four. A time to see them arm in arm to do nice hugs (with just a light mention of the sex for fear of shocking the young target audience) ! Constantly stuck, the duo becomes too boring (it already was a little). Moreover, it is not surprising that the film is finally of interest at the time of their ” separation “. Their opinion diverging, Tris away from Four to trust David, head of the Office of the well-being genetics where are the refugees our heroes. We confess the passage never understand the intentions of the latter, or how it might show up as obvious in his plans, each time easily discovered by Tris and his companions.
“We appreciate at least DIVERGENT 3 that it is more simple, more direct, and he announced the near end of a saga that will remain interest-free.”
For the rest, although this new DIVERGENT turns out to be less worse than the previous one, it should be noted a series of visual effects of a real ugliness (because highly visible), and a disconcerting ease to remove and put aside the secondary characters fade into the background. Always friendly thanks to his interpreter, Miles Teller, Caleb, is perhaps the real hero of this whole saga, reaching, in spite of his multiple betrayals (which are retold let’s face it) to get out of it, revealing a survival instinct that is quite fascinating. It is a pity to not see more on the screen. Same for Christina (Zoë Kravitz), a nearly silent during his interventions that can be counted on the fingers of one hand and are primarily used to fill in the holes.
But, beyond all the same a few beautiful finds – the landscape of a desert post-apocalyptic, a mix of red, yellow and orange, such as a paint, which offers beautiful plans together, or the sequence of the loss of memory (a consequence of a gas, the last find of the wicked to control the people) which is quite original -it is appreciated to at least DIVERGENT 3 that it is more simple, more direct, and he announced the near end of a saga that will remain without interest.
