Our first evening at the film Festival of Alès, has therefore started with an ORPHAN in the presence ofArnaud Des Pallières and co-writer Christelle Berthevas come to present their film.
The story: Renee is a schoolteacher and lives with Darius that she is expecting a child. One morning the police arrived to stop it. Renée, who is in fact called Karine to unless Sandra is going back over its history, while freshly arrived in Paris, she met Lev and Tara.
Here is the trailer:
Freely adapted from the autobiographical memories of Christelle Berthevas, an ORPHAN work is a portrait of a woman with four ages of his life. Interpreted by four actresses (Adèle Haenel, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Solène Rigot and Vega Cuzytek), the film shows fragments of stories without any linearity, and invite everyone to establish links between these fragments and to project their imagination to tell their own story. During the meeting with the public, the developer has also claimed to have wanted to make a film “for each viewer”.
Devoid of any determinism, ORPHAN deconstructs the life of her character by going back in time and is like a puzzle broken where it would be missing parts. It is, therefore, of the four stories in full each corresponding to a crucial step that, if it does not justify the result (the character changes, evolves and rebuilt), is reflected in spite of everything at the moment starts the story. To translate these changes, the developer has, therefore, turned not only with the actresses different, but also with distinct tones. And the story of his adolescence and has a tone more dark, more dark, while children in rural land is a lot more solar, as well as tragic.
In the end, an ORPHAN work is a tribute to women, to the complexity of people, to the lives dangling and salvific love.
