Can you Spellskite equipment?
No. Spellskite doesn’t change control of anything, but you can’t even change the target of the equip ability because the equip ability can only target creatures that the equipment’s controller controls.
What is Spellskite good for?
Spellskite is great to use as a sponge, soaking up removal intended for your other creatures that you probably want to live more than you want Spellskite to.
Does Spellskite work on counters?
Spellskite is not a legal target for the counterspell, so when the ability resolves it will not change the target, it would remain the same.
Does Spellskite have to be a legal target?
Spellskite’s ability can target any spell or ability, not just a spell or ability with a target. This also means that if Spellskite has hexproof or protection from the relevant color, you won’t be able to change the target of the spell or ability either, since Spellskite would not be a legal target for it.
What if Spellskite has Hexproof?
So you are allowed to pay the costs (it’s ‘pay 2 life’ cost might be handy combined with Transcendence, for instance) but because Spellskite has Hexproof he is an illegal target; Spellskite’s ability would resolve – but have no effect – and the original target of the spell would remain targeted.
What can Spellskite redirect?
It can only redirect spells or abilities which can legally target it. However, it can target any spell or ability. There is nothing wrong with your opponent paying 2 life to try and change the target of your Go for the Throat, then fail to. It can only redirect spells or abilities which can legally target it.
Can Spellskite steal auras?
Yes you can redirect enchantment – auras to spellskite like splinter twin unless there is some specific stipulation on the card. You can can not redirect an opponents equipment attachment however.
