Sumia is actually one of the best units in the game. Early on she gives flying utility, high movement unimpeded by terrain to ferry around other units, and gives huge speed bonuses to her allies. These are all very valuable things.

Is Wyvern Lord or Griffon rider better?
This is probably the biggest advantage wyvern lords have over griffons. An extra weapon means more enemies you can have wta against meaning you take less damage vs the enemies as well as a higher chance to hit and dodge(though the last one is fairly inconsequential due to the unreliability of dodge tanking).

All in all, Sumia is a decent unit with a weak start due to her lack of base strength, defense, and HP. Her class makes it worth using her though, and once she is trained up, she will easily become one of the better units in the first generation.

Sumia is a very fast and bulky unit that can make the most out of the enemy turn with her Lance. This is my easy and cheap build that encompasses what I think she was supposed to do, as she does hold enemy’s damage output and can have every meele unit try to hit her just to be met with a 56 def Ignis every other turn.
