DROPPED, a feel good movie about a threesome mother-daughter – Review

When a trio of mother-daughter share, under the sun, heal his wounds, this provides DROPPED, a comedy spring carried by three actresses in fusion and a few scenes interesting. The film runs out of steam too quickly to open on a second part more slow and poor, and most agreed. Damage we marrait well.

Rose and Alice are two sisters that everything separates. One is a bird of night in cowboy and mini-shorts, the other a mother of a family copy a little too rigid. Yet they are both determined to go out with their mother Frances (Miou-Miou), her sadness following her recent separation from their father, left for a much younger, and fly away for a break in the club at The Meeting. But Françoise will prove to be a new woman faster than expected.

Eloïse Lang found his “bitch” fetish (Camille Cottin discovery in the series of Canal + and has been found since in Ten percent), and assigns a different Camille in the role of the sister a little stuck (Camille Chamoux). These replicas abound, and the film starts with a bang. It must be said that Rose has a sharp tongue and his side teenager at heart, in fact, a “jettisoned“ in the first category. Her sister Alice, by dint of wanting to control everything, loses itself and the journey inaugurated a questioning of the happiness in the feminine : can one be happy when one has no attachment or love relationship that is sincere (Pink), when one is wholly devoted to his family left to put aside his own desires (Alice), when our youth is behind us (Françoise) ? The response ofEloïse Lang stands on the side of lightness of feelings induced by a truce, not so idyllic, but which has the merit of shoving all three. Rose and Alice wanted to give their mother on foot. It is also they that this trip is creating. No one is simply what it leaves appear. And Pink is not so disillusioned that she suggests. Moreover, she claims to not want a child will forge strong links with the only kid’s club on holiday with his father also depressed (the “Dog of Navarre,” Thomas Scimeca, hilarious in Apnea). DROPPED provides a portrait of women beyond the comedy. This does, unfortunately, not to save the second part and its multiple twists and turns poussifs. If indeed the trio works wonderfully and gives rise to dialogues drôlatiques, you eventually get tired of a storyline that builds up the situations, not avoiding the shots.

Because DROPPED is no exception to the caricature or the features of coarse own to most of French comedies. Each player has a custom kit from highlight its role and compensate for the lack of characters ‘ psychology. Pink is so somebody without discomfort, free who never sleeps and drinks a lot when his sister Alice, she is concerned about distance for lice found in the school of his children or for his or her line. Ditto for the supporting roles : Roman the kind organizer a little heavy and that does not know how to swim or Thierry (Johan Heldenbergh) the fop fifty-year-old cartoonist in his spare time, behind which hides a sensitive soul. This is all the more regrettable that the beginning of the highly rhythmical, carries us and truly gave the impression of a comedy – like the work of Bacri and Jaoui – can also be fine.

DROPPED is therefore a “feel good movie“ don’t sulk, under despite the level of French comedies the most disappointing (and they are many !). The movie would have however gained to not get lost in a storyline full of twists and turns expected to focus more on the trio of mother and daughters and allow characters to embody it with more sincerity.
