Is the 3RZ engine reliable?
Featuring a forged crank and forged rods, the 3RZ internals are very strong for the engines relatively weak power output. The pistons and cylinder head are made of aluminum and the block is cast iron. Fortunately, the strength of this engine combined with its modest power levels results in a highly reliable engine.

Whats the difference between a 2RZ and 3RZ?
the 3RZ block is taller. also the 3RZ crank is a forged steel crank vs the 2RZ is a cast crank, making the 3RZ a stronger crank.
How much boost can a stock 2RZ handle?
The kit is designed to run anywhere from 5lbs of boost up to 15lbs of boost!! Even mild boost can take your little 2RZ engine upwards of 250hp!! One major issue to consider when boosting your engine is fuel management. Your stock ECU was not designed to compensate for boost, especially high levels of it.
How long do 3RZ engines last?
With proper maintenance, the average engine life of the 3RZ-FE engine is more than 250,000 miles (400,000 km).
What is the difference between a T3 and T4 turbo?
In general, T3 class turbos can deliver air volume for applications in the 200 to 300 HP range. On the other hand, the T4 turbo has a larger turbine on the exhaust side and larger turbine fins on the intake compressor side. Generally speaking, T4 turbos are usually for larger motors and use a different exhaust flange.
How much horsepower does a T3 turbo add?
The high-boost turbo is designed to spool fairly quickly and can support up to 500 horsepower. The high boost turbo is a Garrett TO4E 50-Trim compressor wheel with a stage 3 .
What year was the 3RZ engine made?
The 3RZ-FE is a 2.7-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine produced by Toyota from 1994 to 2004. It was a replacement for the well-known 22R-E and used mostly in commercial trucks and four-wheel drive vehicles such as Toyota Tacoma, T100, Land Cruiser Prado, 4Runner.
What is a T3/T4 Turbo?
With today’s aftermarket supply it is easy to become overwhelmed with turbo options but the T3/T4 is still one of the most common and most versatile turbo’s available. For our low boost kits we use a TO4B S-trim, with a stage 3 turbine wheel and a .48 A/R exhaust housing. One major issue to consider when boosting your engine is fuel management.
What is a T3 exhaust flange?
The T3 exhaust flange has a standard mounting pattern that bolts onto many exhaust manifolds for vehicles that are turbocharged from the factory. If that’s not the case, adapters and custom exhaust manifolds can be found for most engines suited for this turbo.
What are the components of a turbo kit?
The main component of any turbo kit is obviously the turbo itself. We have had a lot of experience with different turbo set-ups and we have found that the Garrett T3/T4 turbo is the best overall application for our kits. The T4 inlet allows for large amounts of air to be brought into the turbo, while the T3 side allow for a quick spool up.
