The actor Jean-Paul Roussillon has just died at the age of 79 years…
Jean-Paul Roussillon was an actor. He had been a pupil of the school in the Rue Blanche, then at the conservatoire, where he obtained the first prize for comedy classic in 1950, and then a member of the Comédie Française in 1960.
He has received three Molière awards : in 1991, 1996 and 2002.
He has performed over a hundred pieces since the beginning of his career : the Cellars Of The Vatican, L’arlésienne, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, The Barber Of Seville, The Doctor in Spite of Himself…
In cinema, he has been seen in movies such as Twist Again in Moscow of Jean-Marie Poiré, Baxter de Jérôme Boivin, D’artagnan’s Daughter by Bertrand Tavernier, We Know The Song d’Alain Resnais and A Christmas Tale by Arnaud Desplechin – his latest film – where he won the César of the best actor in a supporting role.
Jean-Paul Roussillon died in a hospital in Auxerre. “He was very sick for a long time : he had lung cancer ten years ago, and then recently a last operation. He was very tired,” said his wife, Catherine Ferran, from the journal The World.
