Usually Universities prefer Chemistry HL as it is (in my opinion correctly) considered the more challenging of the two subjects and harder to carch up on if you didn’t have it in school. For Engineering (mo matter what type of engineering) I’d always recommend choosing Maths (at minimum HL) and Physics (SL or HL).
