A: Several VA-based dietetic internship programs are aligned with a university. The university provides the academic coursework, and the VA provides the supervised practice. Once the entire program is completed, the university provides the graduate degree, and the VA provides the verification statement.

How many total questions are on the exam? There is a minimum of 125 questions on the multiple-choice exam; each question has four possible answers. One hundred questions are scored, and 25 questions are pretest questions that are not scored. The maximum number of questions total 145 — 120 scored, 25 not scored.

Each internship is unique in their own ways; however, all accredited internships consist of 1200+ hours of hands-on supervised practice in a variety of clinical, community, and food service settings. Internship placements are granted through a (crazy and mysterious) computer-matching process.
How many times can you fail the RD exam?
There is no limit on the number of times you may take the exam, provided you wait the required 45 days between test dates. The RD exam is administered year-round at more than 250 locations in the United States.
