After the screenings and meetings the first two days, my adventures party at Deauville and Trouville are continued for another three days, Monday to Wednesday.
On the first day, I dedicated my morning to write articles and to the withdrawal of tickets for the film presentation of the Secret first the evening. Up to now, I had very little advantage of the benefits of being in the borders of the sea, so I participated in a lunch “seafood” on the boards.
In the afternoon, I returned to Trouville to attend the meeting of Canal + in the framework of the film market. Brigitte Pardo, in charge of acquisitions of short film, presented the operation of the unit and the type of films sought. For those that are interested, there is a majority of films produced and a lot of animation. In the evening I therefore went to see The secret, the new film from Pascal Laugier, that I liked a lot.
Tuesday was a bit loaded. But I have had the pleasure of doing something I had never done before : Interview, for nearly an hour, the director Pascal Laugier, to speak of The Secret but also of his way of seeing cinema. A conversation is really exciting that you can find an excerpt on the blog. I then spent a good part of the day to transcribe this interview before you attend, in the framework of the festival of Trouville, at the meeting of Movieola, a distributor of short films in canada. This was the opportunity for me to discover some short films shot on the other side of the Atlantic. Finally, in the evening, I quietly discovered 7 other French films in the running for the competition at the festival of Trouville.
The last day also started with a new experience for me. The film market of Trouville proposed in effect to participate in sessions of Script-doctoring with Roland Ngyuen, manager of the short film for France 3 for more than twenty years ! If several tips I thought were interesting and enriching for my film, I regret, a method little developed and a simplistic approach to the exchange : Not at the start of the meeting to learn more about the intentions of the author but a point of view, not necessarily right on it. This leads inevitably to comments sometimes irrelevant. It remains that the content of the comments is interesting. In addition, Roland offers to continue this exchange later in the context of an online chat. The director who participated in the session of script-doctoring will be able to send him his script worked again and again to discuss with him about it.
In the afternoon, I participated in two meetings of producers and distributors of short films that have allowed me to discover other high-quality movies. The evening was held the second screening of Paris in Love in the framework of the festival of Trouville. This projection concluded my stay on both of his festivals, because I had to go back to Paris the next morning.
