What fuel do you use in a Primus stove?
Our gas mixture consists of propane, iso-butane and butane. Gas is a simple and easy choice. No pumping or priming is required and combustion is completely odourless and soot-free. In most countries, you can return gas containers when you buy new ones.
Are Optimus and MSR fuel bottles interchangeable?
I have used both the 25.4 fluid ounce Optimus fuel bottle and the 30 fluid ounce MSR fuel bottle interchangeably. You can swap the fuel caps on the liquid fuel bottles as the treads are the same. Same for the isobutane-propane fuel canisters as they seem to be standard, regardless of the canister capacity.
Can you use other fuel with Primus stove?
Our multi-fuel stoves can run on several different fuels, from gas to kerosene and when needs must in an emergency – even aviation fuel (our OmniFuel and OmniLite Ti even run on diesel if required).
Can I use Coleman fuel with MSR stove?
Almost any pressurized-type liquid fuel stove will run well on white gas. Not all brands are identical, but any stove that runs on white gas should burn Coleman fuel without issue. MSR offers a unique blend of white gas called SuperFuel.
How do you clean MSR fuel bottles?
First, make sure you clean the bottle the best you can. Use soap, a brush and plenty of hot water to remove the smell of fuel. Take your time and do a good job before you check in – otherwise you’ll be looking for a new bottle when you get there.
Can you use JetBoil fuel with MSR Windburner?
Technically yes, as long as it is a canister that’s certified to EN 417 with an 80% isobutane / 20% propane mix.
